California’s Attorney General (AG), Rob Bonta, announced a settlement with the international beauty product retailer, Sephora, for $1.2 million as part of an ongoing effort to ensure enforcement of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
The first privacy law enforcement action in the United States is a sign of things to come — while the CCPA was the first privacy law of its kind in the US, it’s not the last. In fact, five state privacy laws go into effect in 2023, including an addition to the CCPA in the California Privacy Rights Act.
